The PrPMC1100 is the first processor PCI mezzanine card (PrPMC) designed for the recently announced Intel IXC1100 control plane processor. PrPMC modules provide a complete host CPU and memory subsystem in a compact, industry-standard form factor that is based upon the VITA32 standard. The new Intel IXC1100 control plane processor is a highly integrated system-on-a-chip designed to provide telecommunications equipment manufacturers with greater design flexibility and help reduce system development cost. The PrPMC1100 expands Processor PMC portfolio to include an ARM-based Intel XScale™ core. This combination provides the performance, upgrade flexibility and low power consumption necessary to meet the processing needs of multi-service switches, voice over IP (VoIP) media gateways, wireless infrastructure and other telecommunications equipment.
